COLLABORAION MEETING of the
HEDgeHOB
High Energy Density Matter Generated by Heavy Ion Beams
collaboration
Studies on High Energy Density Matter
with Intense Heavy Ion and Laser Beams at FAIR
June 21, 2005, Moscow, Russia
The HEDgeHOB Collaboration
The HEDgeHOB collaboration proposes to study fundamental properties of high-energy-density states in matter generated by intense heavy ion beams at FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research). Investigation of equation of state as well as transport properties of various materials in exotic physical states will be carried out. The proposed experiments will allow one to access broad unexplored regions of the phase diagram. These include the states of hot liquid, the critical point region, strongly coupled plasmas, warm dense matter and hydrogen in metallic state.
For the moment, more than 170 scientists from about 40 institutions and 14 countries joined the HEDgeHOB collaboration. The Technical Proposal for the HEDgeHOB experiments at FAIR is available at the GSI Plasma physics cite (PDF, 3 Mb).
Scope of the meeting
During the first broad meeting of the HEDgeHOB collaboration, apart from exchanging scientific ideas and status reports, the administrative, financial and strategic matters will be discussed. This includes defining the long-term R&apm;D and technical projects related to the HEDgeHOB experiments, the involvement of the collaborating institutions, formation of the projects working groups and election of the Coordination Board for overall monitoring of the progress and quality of the developments as well as organization of proper communication inside the collaboration.
Agenda of the meeting
(Chairman: D.H.H. Hoffmann, protocol: D.Varentsov)
- Introduction and overview.
Overview of FAIR B.Sharkov. HEDgeHOB present state, program of the
meeting D.Varentsov.
- Adoption of the Collaboration Bylaws.
- Presentation of the members of the Collaboration Board (CB).
- Selection of the Spokesperson and the CB Chair.
- Discussion on Working Packages and Working Groups; assignment of
Project Coordinators, Technical Coordinator and Web Administrator.
- Proposals for next collaboration and CB meetings, other topics.
The detailed programme of the meeting will be announced later.
Organization, registration, accommodation
The HEDgeHOB collaboration meeting will be included in the "Symposium on High-Energy-Density Matter Generated by Intense Heavy Ion Beams: Industry Application Outlooks" which is a part of the SCCS-2005 conference (see the Conference program). This makes it easier for the HEDgeHOB collaborators attending the conference to attend also the meeting and vice versa. Presumably, many people participating in the meeting will also like to present their scientific case at SCCS-2005.
We ask all the people attending the collaboration meeting to register by e-mail. This is needed, e.g., for the local organizers to rent a proper conference hall for the meeting sessions.
